Black plugs a little jetting guidance appreciated

very rarely take the bike over 6,000 RPM. 5,500 = approx 80MPH. The bike pulls and cruises extremely well (I think) but the pluge are always lightly sooty when i take them out. Currently running stock 26's with 135 Needle jets and, I believe 120 pilots. Foam Pods, 4 into 2 macs, 87 gas (does NOT like 89 or above). Coil rewire mod done and all wires bigger gauge than necessary.

Swapped out the 26's a week ago with an old but totally stripped down and cleaned set of 28's. Then synced same. Unfortunately, the 28's didn't feel nearly as good/smooth as the 26's?

Any thoughts on possible rejet for the 26's in order to get rid of the sooty plug problem?

Thanks.

My plugs are in a similar state, always a little sooty. Never too much that they start fouling. She always runs great.
I've heard that it's better to be a little too rich than a little too lean.

I have done the coil mod, but it hasn't seemed to affect the plug color.
Again, my bike has run great for the past two years, so I havn't been too concerned. I will watch this post for suggestions though.

Not sure where you came up with your jetting #135 mains and #20 pilots but if those are stock 76 carbs, try #17.5 pilots and #120 mains. The jetting you are using is way too rich.
