I know the TK27's came on the '84-'86 GPz550's and was wondering if the '84-'85 GPz750 carbs would be a good upgrade. I don't know if the spacing is the same, but would be nice if it did. Just checking the options with the 615 kit I'm s-l-o-w-l-y installing(time and place issue). I know of a '84 GPz550 Owner adding the CV30's from a Zephyr 550, but there's a lot involved in adding those carbs: Dual throttle cables, handlebar mounted choke, different switch set-up... I haven't exhausted the TK27's yet, just wondering. Thinking the carb spacing would be different as the head might be different from my 550.

I see a set posted on ebay:

Thanks for reading. :)

Ahhh if it were only that easy. Unfortunately the spacing is totally different for the 550's. If somebody ever comes up with a way to swap mikuni's onto a 550 they'll make themselves a fortune. Untill then 550 owners are stuck with the lawnmower carbs from TK  .

Changing spacing on a CV rack is a bit involved... the bracket that holds all four carbs needs to be swapped or modified so that the spacing is correct. The next issue is that the 550 spacing is more narrow I think so look at how the carbs are linked together as far as the sync mechanisms go... They will have to be modified so they fit closer together... the fuel pipes will have to be modified. Wow... this would be a chore...

If you used mechanical slide carbs, you run into much the same... the main issue would drilling and tapping new holes in the rod that connected the sync mechanisms... that procedure would have to be done with very exacting prescision because you would never get the carbs to sync otherwise.

wiredgeorge Motorcycle Carburetors has provided tech support to AMHRA racers in the past who ran VM29s on their GPz550. They actually CUT the bracket (in the center) to change the spacing to fit the 550 and modified the rod... these carbs were hard to tune on the 550.
