Looking through ebay listings for carbs, I'm curious as to what that extra object is on the bottom of the second carb. I've seen it on a couple of carb sets but don't have it on mine...
This is the listing
Fuel regulator?...*shrug*

thats a accelerator pump, from what I have heard, they used them to help make epa ratings, the carbs ran leaner jets

accelerater pumps are to aid in transistion between circuits and to give you better quick throttle response

Interesting, thanks! I always thought the pumps were on all carbs, not just one.

The pump (SINGLE PUMP) squirts gas into all four combustion chambers since the float bowls are linked to the pump circuit and there are nozzles in each of the four venturi. The pump squirts ONCE when the throttle is opened a bit... this is to add gas between the idle circuit and needle jet (mid-range) taking over... it is to cure the leanness used to meet EPA emissions testing in the late 70s. No catalytic converters yet I guess.
