If you have both sets. New 34MM RS's and just rebuilt 29MM Smoothies which would you use on a 1977 KZ1000 with Kerker Header, 1105 Kit,Dyna S and Dyna 3 ohm Grn coils and Dyna Plug wires. Not sure of any Head work. Mild to stock cams. Also K&N Pods for both sets.

I'll take $525.00 for my 29's. That's not cheap but i am. And easy too.

Oh, use the 29's on the bike. You will like them. Roy

OK,

I have tried both the 29s and the 34s on my bike.
I can say without hesitation that the 34s are by far the better carb.

All things being equal, my bike starts, idles and runs better with the 34s. The choke setup on the 34s is much better than what is found on the 29s.

There is one big difference between the two carbs. The Radial Flat Slides have a VERY noticable rattle. On my bike the rattle is most noticable between 2000 - 3000 RPM with the throttles nearly closed (e.g. putting around on a side street). Anything above/below that RPM or a bigger "handfull" of throttle and the rattling stops.

The 34's also have a accelerator pump that squirts gas in the carbs. This is one reason they work better also.

unless your ports have been cleaned up you are going to be doing what is called funneling in the plumbing world you are basically having the same affect as going from a 3" pipe and trying to drain it into a piece of 2" pipe.smaller ports and smaller carbs are more efficient at moving air/fuel .unless you are building a dragbike that lives its life between 7,000-10,000 rpms or you are building a much bigger motor stay clear of what the dragbike boys are using,it dont work the same on a streetbike motor.use the smallest carbs you can get by with;)

Having owned both I'd agree with Plummen and go with the 29's on an 1105 motor. You may still be able buy replacement slides that are metal not plastic -that's what rattles and the plastic ones used to break a lot when used with nos back in the day.

seeing as how you got some ppl saying 29's, and others saying 34's, and you have both sets in good working order, why not try BOTH and see what works best for YOUR bike?
