rich at idle

My bike is running a wee bit rich at idle.. i have 4-1 V&H headers, pods, dana coils and ignition.. I'm running 17.5 pilots and 117.5 mains on the 4th clip.. Should I go back to the stock 15 pilots? Carbs are synced, float hights are good.. Pilots?

Hey Vach - Have you tried different adjustments with the air screws on the carbs? Are you running Mikuni 24's?

Yeah, 24's.. The air mixture screws don't seem to help the rich idle.. I just figured with the headers, pods and ignition I'd be safe with the 17.5's... Maybe not.. Sooty plugs and rich smelling only at idle..

Put the 15 pilots back in. I tried the 17.5 pilots in my 650 and made it run better, BUT I also had intake leaks at the time. I had fixed the leaks and found out that it was running too rich no matter what I did to the carbs. So I put the 15 pilots back in and no more sooty plugs they are a nice tan colorB) .
