carbs flood out and plugs turn black was created by eagleman222
I have a kz 750 twin 1978 with 5,000 miles .Can anyone tell me? I have rebuilt the carbs 2 times and it runs well on long distances but terrible on short runs. If I keep replacing plugs it runs fine.I only get about 36-40 miles to the gallon and idles fine, but when I give it the gas it boogs out and then picks up speed.. Any ideas????

Sounds like it could be ignition related rather than carbs. Your bike sounds like a good candidate for the coil repowering modification AKA the Wired George coil mod. He has the details on his website www.wgcarbs.com I believe it is in the tech section. A lot of members here swear by this and I'm about to do it to one of my 650's very soon.

Sounds like the fuel delivery may be questionable. Tank sediment clogging the screen or perhaps a dirty fuel filter (if one is installed). Could also be float levels set inappropriately.

 been real busy no time for the p/c.. I put a relay on the bike which bypassed the coils and gave it 12.11 volts instead of 10.49 to the points..it was on wierdgeorgecarbs just like the others wrote to help me out.. start at the top of the question and follow the directions.. :silly: good luck it was real easy and cost about $25.00
