airbox - crankcase vent hole - open
14 Jun 2007 08:58
so yea, as some of you know from my other posts.. i'm a total newbie. i did a carb clean recently.. and i wrecked the elbow that goes from my crankcase vent to the airbox in the process. i replaced it with a piece of hose that runs straight up and is nestled in the frame underneath the tank.
question though. what would the side effects be of NOT plugging the hole in the airbox? could it potentially let too much air in the airbox, causing high rpms at idle? or does the amount of air coming in not matter because its being controlled by the carbs?
i have other problems right now that are preventing the bike from running, but i'm just curious about this. i plan on plugging this hole as soon as i find something suitable. thanks!

Amount of extra air into the airbox is so minimal it wouldn't hurt at all just to leave it open, but plugging would probably be better. The elbow is no longer available.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
