They are performance carbs that work good on the street.

I believe that they have a rectangle slide instead of a round one and the bottom of the slide is solid, not recessed like a round slide so when it is wide open throttle it is smooth so there is no eddies cause by the slide edges, also the midrange pipe where the slide needle goes into is flush with the venturi, hence the name smooth bore.so they just flow bvetter all around and are typically very pricey. but I could be off base.

The smooth bores are sweet on the street. :woohoo: I am going to sell my Kz 1000 A1 and i will sell the "29" Smoothbores and Kirker first and then install "26" carbs and another older Kerker. I can get a lot more bucks out of the carbs alone than if i were to sell them on my bike.
I think George got a little over $600.00 for the last set i saw him list on eBay.
They are super responsive. Roy

The one's I have are the old round slides. The body's are cast wit a roof so when the slides are all the way open there's no hole in the top to mix up the air flow. I've herd the 29's when wide open flow like 31's but are more responsive at lower R.P.M.'s then bigger carbs would be on the same bike.

so which are the best performance as far as the type goes? ive seen people talk about 29mm, 36mm, 31mm, etc and i have no idea how these numbers affect the bike performance.
and also can all of the above fit a 650C3 or are some of them incompatible?
Thanks!

I have 29's on my 650, the bigger ones would be too much for a 650.
