air box mod,,
10 Jun 2007 15:19
hi all,, I have a stock 1980 kz1000 LTD B4, while looking into the air intake box i noticed 2 circular tubes held in by philips head screws, the tubes go almost to the bottom of the airbox, do these restrict the air into the bike and would i gain anything by removing them? Also, i just put in a K&N filter,, i was not impressed,, no change in performance, if anything the idle seems about 50 rpm lower, does the K&N really do anything?? JT. Rindge NH

Believe referring to the air cleaner silencer which attaches via hose clamp to the air cleaner housing. If concerned about air restriction, may loosen the clamp and simply remove the entire air cleaner silencer. Gains under-seat storage space and perhaps nominally increased air intake noise hardly noticable while riding.

I was thinking of just the 2 vertical tubes that go INTO the airbox, not the entire box, has anyone tried this?
