IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor is usually located in the airbox, but I suppose you could just hang it next to a pod filter, or maybe in a pod filter.

I'm guessing you probably could although you might be running into trouble on several levels...the obvious being that your bike is mapped for having the airbox and all sensors present and working. It might entail remapping w/a megasquirt system. The second factor being the mouths of the throttle bodies are 41mm so you'd have to find smaller pods than what most folks run (my pods are for 43mm carb mouths on KZ1000A) or fab something. I suspect, like has been mentioned already, that the biggest obstacles are the mapping parameters in the archaic CPUs.

Edit: I am unaware of anyone who has tried to run pods on a essentially unmodified early FI GPz.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I say no. The electronic airbox is between the air filter and the purge canister ( which is what you'd have to pull to put pods on). So, you'd have nothing to connect your electronic air box to. If your DFI works, I personally wouldn't touch it. Finding a stock B1 is rare. I have one but it's not stock, also still being wrenched on.
