pilot screw settings
31 May 2007 08:07
1977 KZ 650b1 I have the carb air screw out 2.5 turns. How many out is too much before changing the Idle Jet to a larger size. Also, anyone know the stock settings on the air screw??

If you have an air screw, it works opposite of a fuel screw. The more you turn an air screw out the leaner the mix and the more you turn it in the richer the mix.
If you have a fuel screw then I've heard that more than 3-3.5 turns out its time for a bigger pilot. I've also heard that when you're 0-1 turns out you need a smaller one so anything from 1-3 is pretty acceptable.
I think every screw is set different but I've always started with a baseline of 1.5 turns out for both fuel or air screw. That way I'm kinda in the middle of the range.
