Please ID these Mikuni carbs
19 May 2007 18:55
Just got these back together after a thorough disassembly and cleaning...nice to have a garage, workbench and air compressor for this duty...oh yeah and pipe cleaners, bore brushes, sewing needles, scotch brite, punches, patience and Beemans (tm)
...a gas mask for varnish smellerification removeration would be great too...I'm loopy-o-the fumeage.
I think these are VM29 smoothbores, but not 100% positive. They are installed on a 1980 Z1R, but I don't believe they are OEM carbs. Apologies for the photos in the "carbs" forum. Thanks for the help.

Thanks wireman.
Is there any way to know if they are VM29's as opposed to another model Mikuni?

I think the 29 or the 33 has to do with the size of the throat.
Here are some cool exploded views maybe they will help.

The ID mark on the flange says they are 29s smoothbores as I recall... I can't recall exactly what the ID mark should be but it points you to them being 29s. There are several varieties; one has different spacing for CB Hondas, one is for KZ650, one is for GS and the other is for a Z1/KZ900-1000. The ID marks are different for each.
