Air mixture screw setup on VM29
17 May 2007 15:56
Hi,
My bike (kz900 76 with VM29, 4in1, pod filters) is setup with air mix screws 1/2 turn out(runs fine but pipes are blue on upper end). Is it normal or does it mean that the pilot jets are lean? I took them out and there is no size printed on them( i thought they were 17.5). I compared them to the 22.5 that i have and they seem to be same size.
Any help greatly appreciated.

First off...Welcome to KZRider!
Have You looked REALLY close at those pilot jets?
The number MIGHT be stamped on the side somewhere.
Also...You're main jets could be on the lean side as well...what size are THEY?What position is the needle jet sitting at?
The more info You list, the more We can help You out,Bud.

If you have replacement exhaust pipes they usually aren't double walled like the originals and they will blue a lot easier on that first bend. That may be your problem.

Buy some #17.5 pilot jets so you will know for sure. About a 1/4 turn out for #17.5 pilot jets. The type of jet needed is VM22/210 and you can get them from z1enterprises.com - I would not use any jet that didn't have the size stamped on it...
