It's the strangest thing, in my KZ900 I run the cheap 87 octane. I trien the super (92 octane) twice thinking I was doing something nice for my engine, but my bike threw fits.
Oh well, I guess it's saving me money.
Good luck.

Stock compression is 8.25:1 and the combustion chambers are relatively large. 87 Octane is plenty. Hi-test will only delay combustion and soot up your plugs and combustion chambers.

MY bike is an 82 KZ 1100 D-1 It's all stock including exuast. It tends to spark knock if you lug the engine . So I run major brand 89 octane. I been thinking of sending My carbs to WIREGEORGE to get them redone & maybe that would help this problem.`Also I want to get an oil cooler on there as I'm in south TX.
