petcock problems

once again i am at a stand still with my project. I had gotten ahold of some 34mm flat slides for my kz900. got em on and bought a set of 2+2 k&n pod filters. (the oval kind) Now i go to put them on and they are hitting the petcock. are pingle petcocks shorter off the bottom of the tank? has anyone else ran into this problem? is it possible to run a "remote" petcock or inline petcock if there is such a thing or am i just dreaming of actually getting this thing to work!?

I think the problem is with those carbs, not the filters.

And yes, it's possible to do an inline petcock. You just have to come up with an oval plate to mount to the underside of your tank with a barbed nipple to attach a fuel line. Surely someone makes one of these, I just don't know who...

Somebody, and I don't recall who, makes a simple on/off valve that you can run inline.

alright you guys have once again saved me from disaster! looks like ill have to fab up something to screw onto the tank with a nipple on it. the inline petcock looks like it will work. ill see about rasing the tank...but im lookin at probably a good inch of clearance i need to clear the filters. Thanks again guys! ill post some pics if i get this thing working!

I assume your tank clips, at the front to a pair of rubber bottle stoppers. What about a new "track/clip" the correct dimensions, attached directly to the bottom surface of the existing one, such that it would raise the tank about an inch.
That may, however upset the entire appearance of your front end.

the inline is your best bet. but to answer your question..the pingle on my 1000 is indeed slightly shorter than the stock one on my 900.
