Re-jetting a KZ440

O.K guys, the advice for jetting my KZ1100L1 was right on the money and it runs so well I now want to rebuild the carb on my KZ440D1.

It's a 1980 KZ440 LTD D1 belt with the point system and the stock Keihin 36mm carbs and (at least for now) the stock exhaust system. I want to rebuild the carbs and add pods because my air box has been modified by a PO and I just like th eway the pods look.

My question is about jetting. The 36mm carbs have a primary and secondary main jet so I'm not sure which I'd need to change when adding the pods nor what size to use.

I searched the Z1 site and found the kits but all the Keihin jets that are listed for a Kawasaki are huge compared to the 60 something's that are in there now. Z1's jets start at #105 so that seems like a huge jump to me.

Do any of you guys have any advice for me on this??

I'd also like to know if there is a reasonably priced 2 into 1 aftermarket exhaust for the 440LTD.

Thanks for your help.

Tony T

I'm delighted to hear that the larger Keihin jets are available from Z1. I thought they were impossible to get.
Now...if you find a source for the smaller 60 / 62 ish size let me know.

In the meantime you might find jetting advice on www.kz400.com which is a great source of info
