I ordered kits for my 1980 KZ1000E2 Shaft from Z1, I started to rebuild the carbs this evening and low and behold the kits I received are wrong. Has anyone else had this happen? The air mixture screws are too long and diameter is wrong, there is not an o-ring for the outlet check valve and the main jets are marked 102 & 105, my jets are 110 which is what the manual says they should be.

The kits are marked 18-2610 which is what the Z1 site shows for my carbs, but I think someone packaged the parts wrong, unless the carbs on my bike are not stock. I don't know how to tell which carbs they are, anyone else know how to tell? I have enjoyed this site very much since joining and have learned a lot so far.
Thanks for all the help.

If they are the K&L kits, I have seen jets that didn't match up with spec for the bike. I have also seen a lot of old bikes with carbs that did not match up with what the FSM said should be on them. If it was easier, used bikes would cost more :-)

Here's a picture of ST carbs. You can spot them easily because the choke lever is different than any other Kawasaki. (Shaped different to hang lower). The internals I'm not sure about.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

That looks just like my carbs, except it has caps on the air mixture screws and mine don't. PO probably took them out at some time. I work in the parts department of a construction Equipment Dealer, so I know all about wrong parts.

On the Z1 website it says "For the shaft bike (KZ1000E), you will need to reuse the existing main jet."
