Everyone thinks everything is an "investment" these days, especially if it has any age on it. A lot of them are new to the older type market, and like anything these days, they all jump on the bandwagon and push prices through the roof, trying to out compete each other in fear of missing out. The same thing is happening here at a ridiculous rate. I then see piles of unfinished, usually hacked up, projects for sale at stupid prices, its really sad because it screws everything up for real enthusiasts and prices them out of the market....

This is my exact point. As enthusiast we have a love hate relationship with the increased values. If we want it to continue the new buyers need to be sure they are getting what they are paying for. I cant see anyone on this forum paying that kind of money. I have to assume the buyers at current prices are just getting into the hobby or are seeing prices on something they remember from their past increase and buying now thinking, it might be the best price they are gonna get. If new buyers are getting mislead and buying these bikes that are deliberately portrayed as collectors, no expense spared, and even museum quality, eventually find out they spent 13k on a bolt together item and needs additional serious time and money to make it actually worth 13k. The Z1/Kz will get a bad rap and the resale value will start to drop. That seems like a lot of money. I hope the buyer is fully aware of what he or she bought.
I know I’m probably on the extreme side of correctness and the “Rivet Counter” in me only comes out against the sellers portrayal of the item. I can love a misfit as much as the next guy based on nice paint, bling, and especially skilled fabrication.

True, what is the fascination with cutting the ass end off and getting rid of all the electronics, and adding knobby looking street tires. Pour bikes. They deserve a better life.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
