I have never used metric. Brought a set down to the kz. Before I round off these bolts I want to ask, is this a normal fit. Seems like a lot of play. Threads are very clean, some blaster has soaked in. Torque is not high on these engine bolts. 17 and 29 pounds.

I just use the wrench that fits the tightest. I bring out both standard and metric on everything I work on. I end up using them together like its a single set. If a 14 is too small and a 15 is sloppy I try a 9/16 (14.28mm)

Is the video uploaded to youtube and linked here or some other way?

It's a good idea to use 6-point sockets whenever possible: you'll get a better fit than you will with a 12-point.

Unfortunately most sets are 12-point. If you want 6-point you'll probably need to buy a different set.

You should get a set of 3/8 sockets. The ones most used are 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17 mm. You should also get a set of JIS screwdrivers. Phillips will damage the heads.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

10, 12, 14, 17, 19 are most common. Very few 13 and 15 on Japanese motorcycles.

Believe it or not but the Harbor Freight wrenches and sockets are good value for the money.

thank you all. My sockets did not come with large enough sizes so I got a set of box and open end wrenches. the box end are 12 point. I will find some larger sockets. .

So here some advantage and dis-advantage of the diffrent socket Driver systems

Good for normal torque




Better for high torque and fu*k up bolts and nuts



A new Driver System that can handle Inch/metric and fu*k up bolts and nuts in one tool
