would it be possible to flip the cylinders so that the carbs were in the front? i'm trying to picture all this in my head, it's starting to swell pretty good and hurt:unsure:

It's do-able, but would be totally useless.

First off, the valves would open and close in the wrong order (exhaust then intake, instead of intake then exhaust). Plus you'd really have to rake the front end to keep the forks from ripping the carbs off of the head....and that's not factoring in the space an airbox or even pod filters would add to that.

I imagine there are ways around it, but not without some serious fabrication and major alterations to the frame and intake/exhaust systems.

i was day dreaming at work, must have been the heat of standing in a kitchen all day, lol. i just got to thinking of the air flow to the carbs if they were in front, even, lots of air, ect. i also thought about the valve situation, just curious about this. i think i need to start sleeping a bit more, been awhile since i've seen more than a few hours at a time:blink:

It's been done, I saw an old Triumph with the head flipped around. The idea is to get a ram air effect, right? That means running velocity stacks on the carbs to scoop all that wind, which means you're really begging for debris in the carbs. The exhaust valves get super hot, too.

I've learned that any time I have what seems like a great idea I should stop and ask myself why it's not normally done that way...

if you flipped (180 out) the cams the valves should open right on time...
