Where in the world did you get your hands on those old CRs? That's so cool!
Armor All works excellent on black motors to gloss them up after you wash the bike. Blow the water off, warm up the motor a little and spritz it.

Thanks for noticing Larry. Only the "real old school" guys remember them! I bought them new in the winter of 1980.The "Ticklers" are still good too. The bike I bought new in 1974. At one point (about 85 or 86?) I tried the Mic 33 smoothbores. They wouldn't touch the 31s with my old combination so the 31s still live on the bike today. The whole bike is a vintage "modified" (except the rear tire) of that period and still runs like it did 20+ years ago. I let a local guy ride it 2 years ago and it went a 9.43 and a 5.89 with a half dozen tries. He had trouble leaving with a standard clutch and no twostep. Go figure?modprod wrote:

I never ran an air box with these. The velocity stacks are threaded into the air inlet side of the carbs. They had also previously used aluminum stacks but these were the "new style" in 1980. They also had spacer blocks at the front to give room for the push/pull linkage. At one point I had tried the available (at the time) shorter stacks but they did not result in better ET and only about maybe 1 mph, so I went for the ET. I have been told that these were the best flowing 31 carbs ever made? but they did atleast work on my combination.

I thought I recognized that motor. I have most of the pictures from another location. Love that old school stuff. Used to help run a B/Modified Z1 (The Hulk)back in the 70's a lot like yours.
Racer, were you refering to my old C/Modified 74 Z1? If so the Suzuki in the left lane is the old B/Modified of MRE with Todd Moore riding at an IDBA race in Alabama. We had alot of fun in the "old days". If you were talking about one of the others in this thread just disregard this.
