Wiredgeorge is right: I´m located in South America and just can´t afford some things like fine Craftsman stuff, that as imported items have ridiculously high price tags around here, especially when you earn 600 bucks a month!

That kind of equipment is found only in top notch repair shops, and of course they don´t use to lend their stuff to anyone...

Owning and maintainig bikes like mine is really difficult down here, for example I paid 1,800 bucks for my 84 Gpz 550, with who knows how many miles on it and several repairs to do...

Anyway, I think the vise grips will do the job, wish me luck again!

Cheers from Argentina, land of tango, good beef and the best women in the world!

two things i would try. #1 welding a nut to the head of the old bolt so you can put a wrench on it or #2 using a dremel tool to shave the head of the old bolt off. i have done both in my career as a mechanic. usually when the head comes off all the pressure on the threads loosens and you can use pliers to back it right out. but i would try the weld tip first. not to many cars have steel into alum. could be different.i don't want to get you into a worse predictement then you are already in. every time i broke a exhaust stud i did #1 and used a little torch to get a little heat into it first. not to much or it melts and costs you a awful lot. damm you have a real pretty bike!

Did I hear Batcopter?

I'll fire up more than the Batcopter!

kawadruida,
I'm sure we can work out some sort of an arrangement... wireman has LOTS of Craftsman tools for trade!

(((The tech forum isn't the place for this stuff-it was deleted! Thanks for your cooperation)))

My pleasure.

wiredgeorge,
You know, there is space in the Batcopter for one more. All you have to do is ask... I'm sure if you are nice to kawadruida he would be more than happy to score you a hot Argentinean local too...

arobsum, Kawiruda is in South America and apprarantly doens't have access to inexpensive Craftsman stuff. I think the things you refer to are called "bolt outs" or something like that. I have a set and they grab the most rounded off bolt every time. They are good stuff but if you ain't got them, vise grips will work about as well if you have room.

good point, thanks! i guess i wasn't paying attention. oops.

Tomorrow I´m gonna give it a shot.

Already have a new pair of vise grips, if it doesn´t come out that way, I´ll try welding a nut over the rounded bolt.

Wish me luck, wanna get her running again! Springtime is approaching very fast, don´t wanna to miss a single riding day!
