22 Mar 2026 12:15Only a thought but are you sure the tool you are using to hold the bucket down isn't fouling the shim (this would make them impossible to remove ??)I agree, it should not be. I'm getting to the point where it would almost be easier to remove the camshafts so that I would not have to do battle with them as well.

Re: Valve shims
Yesterday 06:28I have a 2000 KZ1000P. I am only turning the cams clockwise, unless absolutely necessary to go backwards. I have had to a couple of times, but have checked the cam timing several times so far and if I am reading the manual correctly, the ignition timing and cam timing are still in sync. When I am done, hopefully soon, then I will post pictures of the timing marks so that those of you who are way more knowledgeable than me, can confirm the timing marks are correct. If you can pop the shim up and it will not come out more than likely the bucket is not down far enough to allow the shim to be removed. I personally use the Kawasaki tool but you do need to careful on which way to turn the cams. Im assuming you have a z1900?

Re: Valve shims
Yesterday 06:30Almost positive, but I will check again. It is a bit of trick to get that cut out tool, the one that holds the bucket down, to line up without any interference.Only a thought but are you sure the tool you are using to hold the bucket down isn't fouling the shim (this would make them impossible to remove ??)I agree, it should not be.
