Air Pods

There should be plenty of topics about pods on a 650 w VM24s.
You're probably going to have to go with larger main jets and maybe #17 pilot jets.
An aftermarket exhaust system is also a consideration, if you have that, in which case for sure you'll need to rejet.
ps: save the airbox.

Pilot jets do not need to be changed. It is a kz650E1 LTD with vm24.

Just air correctors and a couple of sizes up on the mains.
This will also be sufficent for use of an aftermarket exhaust.

"Snapping" the throttle open on a carb motor will often cause a stutter as the air speed and fuel draw need to catch upJust an update. I have changed the main jets from 97.5 to 102.5 I got from zpower. The pods are called Hi Level Power Filter also from zpower. I have done the air correction jets from Zed1015 as per advice. They were quite easy to do after advice from Zed1015. The bike starts easy and idles well. Took it for a run and it is flying. If you open the throttle slowly it goes well, if you open it quickly it sometimes dies before taking off. At 2500 rpm it feels a bit juddery. Full throttle it is brilliant. Overall it running great but not quite perfect. Not sure if I am expecting too much from an old machine.

Is this correct ?
Did you contact me via Ebay yesterday regarding the positioning of those jets ?

Ok! the 97.5 mains gave me a clue that it may have been because stock non pumper 24's don't run a jet that small from stock and as i mentioned to the pics you posted on the Ebay reply you have VM22's and not VM24 as you state in this thread.Yes I did contact you on ebay regarding the positioning of the air correction jets.
The main jets were 97.5 and I changed them to 102.5 supplied by Phil at zpower.
The air jets for the 22's are a different size from the 24's so if you bought them for the 24's that you thought you had they will not fully eliminate the off idle hesitation.
I have a seperate listing specifically for the 22's .

Maybe someone fitted the wrong carbs or yours is a USA import as the 22's were USA only. That is a bit strange because the KZ650E1 owners manual that I got with the bike says that the carburetors are Mukuni VM24ss. I did google and found some info that said the American import E1 does have the 97.5 main jets.
Yours are certainly vm22 .
Only the 22's have the kidney shaped passage at the ten o'clock position as highlighter by the red arrow.
24's do not have this.

They look the same as the vm24 which the manual says they are for that bike and they definitely had had the 97.5 main jets.
