Yo guys -

I HAVE to dump my ultra lame MAC on my Kz this summer. God do I hate it. Ran into a V&H at a good price...the old one with the black header and aluminum can, not the megaphone type. Had one like that on my Cb900F back in the day and loved it.

I've searched and searched...here and the web...and can't find any definitive answer on the center stand question. Man, I'd hate to lose that...same with oil changes. ANYONE know if it just slaps on and you can keep the stand? I also ran into a Bassani...but I'm looking at pics of those on 900's, and...yeah, sure looks like the stand goes bye-bye. Makes sense...it's a race pipe...why keep the stand?

ANY guidance would rule! Thanks in advance.

Using a V&H pipe on a 650 the center stand does have to be removed, here is a pic of my bike in 1986.

On my Z1 the centerstand can stay. Pics of the one you're thinking about getting? On the pic of the 650 it looks like mine, swept to the R side. Only thing I don't like is the centerstand stay on the left side. Looks cheesy but has held up all these years.

I installed a center stand on the 77' KZ 1000 LTD. It had a trashed Kerker on it that didn't allow a stand.I got a Delkevik stainless exhaust and it allows for a center stand and doesn't block oil changes. They are usually $400 with free shipping.

+1 on the Delkevic, sounds a lot like my old kerker did.

Awesome. Thanks you guys. Also...boo...I really wanted that V&H. But there is zero chance in frozen hell that I'm dumping the stand.

Always liked the looks of the Delk. Done. They're sooo affordable...it's scary.

    Cheers!

It helps to have a second set of hands when you assemble the header. We have 4 bikes with a Delkevik exhaust on them. The 77' KZ 1000LTD, 80' Suzuki GS 1100E, 81' Suzuki GS 1100E and the 82' Honda CB 900F. Since the 900F is the blacked out model we ordered the black ceramic Delkevik and it it has a different but very cool sound to it.
