Tachometer Gear Installation Advice

I bought this used and in great condition tachometer gear for my 1977 KZ750 TWIN (B1).

Any advice on taking out the old one and putting this one in? I know I have to take off the cylinder head cover, but is there anything else I should know?

Thanks!

Below is the part I got.

Unless it's different from a 650 one you don't need to remove head, cam cover or anying other than the lock bracket.
Undo the bracket retaining screw.
Slide out the old one and slide in the new one making sure the teeth are are aligned. Replace the bracket and screw. Job done.

Thanks for responding.

So, when I take off the tach cable from the engine block, Im looking at the part the cable inserts into. I dont see a nut. Here is a diagram. Can you further explain?

This is a 650 diagram. It doesn't fit in the cam cover it fits in the head.

the KZ750 is completely different. I found the answer.  When I googled it, it led me right back to the forum: You have to pull it out prob with needle nose or something. See below:

A good time to replace the O-ring and oil seal.

You have to remove the valve cover the to push out the gear.
Don´t forget to reset the cam chain tensioner before you put the valve cover on or you overtighten and break the cam chain!

A friend whose Dad has my same bike, reached out to me today by phone and said you pull it out with needle nose and push it back in. He said he changed his two years ago. He said you dont have to take off the valve cover. His steps were:

1. pulled  out the gear with a vise needle nose
2. changed the seals
3. pushed it back in
4. job done

thats exactly what he told me.
Thanks.
