That is a screaming good deal. Only three left in stock!

It really is a good deal. They were made by MAC Performance, which IIRC is now out of business (hence the closeout pricing).

I picked up one of the last remaining MAC systems for the 1981 GPz550. It was a really good deal, but it was only 50% off rather than 75%.

you need to look at the many salvage motorcycle shops around the country, I know there is a NOS system for my bike at one for about 60% of the price Kawi dealers asked, you have to be somewhat creative in your search, do not Google KZ400 exhaust, you'll get hundreds (thousands?) of responses you don't want, Google the Kawi part number as a start, I am willing to bet somebody somewhere has one, or perhaps half a system (since douche bags usually crash on one side) but then all you have to do is find the other side

Oh dang!  Mac went out of business?  I'm not a huge fan, but their headers for the 81 gpz were not terrible, and you could slip a Kerker canister onto it.  I felt they were more than worth the price, and good alternative if someone was on a tight budget.

I think it's official now:

That's s good tip about the Kerker - thank you. I bought a MAC black 4-into-1 megaphone exhaust for the GPz about 10 years ago (maybe more) but it is still in the box. Hope all the parts are there.

Thanks guys.  I saw this on sale last week but didn’t realize it was such a big deal.  I’m new to vintage bikes so I didnt think anything of it.  With all your enthusiasm I ended up ordering them.  So between the eBay deal and these I should be setup one way or another.  Y’all have been very helpful, except for that one very special, precious, person.

You may also want to contact Delkevic. They make a wide variety of systems for old Japanese bikes, and may have plans for the 400/440 soon. I have read nothing but good reviews of their products and service. In the mean while, you can be polishing away on that system you just got.

They got back to me today.  Here is their response:

"Hello Steve, Thank you for your interest in our products.  Unfortunately, we do not manufacture any parts for a KZ440 and do not currently have anything in development.  I will forward your request to our R&D department which monitors customer inquiries.  I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance."

Thanks for letting us know.  Perhaps if all the 400/440 folks here pestered them a bit, maybe they would build a few.

Oh no.  I may be an engineer but we (civil) are not taught the differences between welders.  As a civil engineer we only deal with electrode style (E70) stick welding because its the only type that can be used for large scale structural purposes.  If I were a trained mechanical engineer I'm sure I'd know all about welders.  But I don't.  I'm dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to welders.  Please do inform me if you're able.  I've always wanted to learn to weld, so maybe this need to replace my mufflers is the type to buy a welder and learn, and fix my exhaust.  I'm willing and able.

There are many differences between welders: MIG – Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), TIG – Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Stick – Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux-cored – Flux-cored Arc Welding (FCAW). And depending on what material you need to weld. Like welders for aluminium gotta be special, like here listed . But many brands are universal.
