Leaking camshaft end caps

Leaking camshaft end caps was created by Claude.
Question related to every 1981-1984 KZ1000 & 1100 models.
Is there a way to make the camshafts end caps leak proof?
I had a 1981 KZ1100 from 1981 to 1996 and I remember pretty well the task of regularly cleaning the four "corners" of the cylinderhead to wipe off the oil.
Hopefully, the last 40 years provided a proven solution... Teflon tape? Brake Quiet? Silicone? Other?
Thanks!!

As Woodyvale said, The hi temp black silicon works well, as the factory intended.

This is what I do if I ever have to do it.    Smear the half moons and then sit them on the grooves,...immediately, I placed the valve cover and tighten it with a few bolts, thus let the valve cover do the setting and pressing sort of 'naturally' and leave it for next 24 hours.

......Don't know if the KZ1000 is like that, but in the 750 the valve cover corner bolts go through all the way, and if not coated with thread sealant they will sip from the bottom looking like a leak.

I got those all aluminum end caps for the 1100. if you go with those, make sure you dry fit them first, including making sure  the bolt holes all line up and the bolts go thru them cleanly. I had to re-drill 2 of them after it was in place and that was a pain. But they never leaked after they were installed.

I think I remember reading a couple of different posts about this issue where installing the end caps backwards or inside out where the lip is on the inside and it stops the leaking.  I did a search but only found this one post on the subject   kzrider.com/forum/2-engine/158903-rubber...-delaminating#159396

For some reason I recall a post by Dr gamma about this but could not find one.

The '81 and up Kz1000 and 1100's you can't reverse the cam plugs.

Use only O.E.M. Kawasaki cam plugs. NO K&L AFTERMARKET CAM PLUGS.

I would put a thin coat of ThreeBond TB-1211 on the cam plug where it fits into head. Then apply the TB-1211on the lower part of the bolt that goes through the cam plug, Then install them.

Then DO NOT fire the bike up until the next day.  My cam plugs never leaked doing them this way. It was a bitch removing the 1211 from the bolts the next you remove the valve cover!!!!

I know OEMs to be rubber with an aluminum face. It’s the first time I read about all aluminum pieces; thanks!!
I checked on Z1 Enterprises and, indeed, they sell all aluminum units. Beside the hole issue, you only use the supplier o-ring "thingy"?
I suppose they are better as they can’t compress over time.
I’ll try to seal up OK the OEM ones first but all aluminum ones will surely be a great option.
Thanks!

Many thanks for your input! Z1 Enterprises also sells rubber units which are written to be OEM equivalent. Are they OK to use or must order through Kawasaki?
Thanks!
