Rubber cam end caps delaminating? was created by BARNEYHYPHEN
Took the valve cover off a couple of week ago to replace a seeping gasket and decided to replace the four rubbers semi circular cam end caps at the same time.
Got it all back together and no leaks for 900 miles. Rode to Indy on Friday and back to Nashville yesterday and on arrival back in Nashville noticed a weeping at one of the cap/plugs. The cap appears to be delaminating. The rubber appears to be coming away from the metal substructure?
Anyone else noticed this happen to their's? Thanks.

I put in new rubber end caps about 3000 miles ago on the 650 with no problems yet.
Next time you're in Indy, stop by and say hi.

Greenwood is on the south side, I'm up on the north side of Indy about 30 mins from there.
Those APE cam plugs are NICE! Too bad they don't make em for the 650's.

Yup , those APE ones are nice .....
If all you have are stock ones ,
try this ,
Put them in backwards / inside out ......
whatever you want to call it ,
with the outside lip/flange ,
on the inside.
They WILL NOT leak or seep oil.
Just make sure they DO NOT touch the camshaft ends,
it might take a little tweak with a small screwdriver to wedge them OUT .
Done deal ,I have made at least 50 Z1s leak free with this trick.
