Iv tried looking just about everywhere for kz750 twin cylinder studs and they are literally hens teeth, if they are no where to be found are the studs to same length as any other model? if i have to buy a full set off a 4 cylinder so be it, the ones on mine are rotten but there has to be a work around, any and all help is welcome.

EDIT... the bike is a 81 CSR.

APE sells some super cool heavy studs. I don't see a kit listed for the 750 twin but if you measure the stock studs you may want to call them to see if they can piece together a kit for you. From looking at the parts fishe on Partzilla the studs seem common with other model bikes.

Oh, and checking the OEM PN's on ebay gets quite a few hits in the USA site. Not sure about the UK though.

Thanks Nessism, that's what i figured, im sure the Kawasaki heads back in the day worked around the all ready available cylinder studs they had in abundance when designing the 750twin.. i hope. thing is to measure them ill have to take at least one out, this engine has been sitting in rain soaked Ireland for over 10 year and im afraid if i remove one it will never go back in if a replacement cant be found..

I can confirm the cylinder studs for a z1/KZ1000 will work on the KZ750 twin - I used APE heavy duty studs for KZ1000 in my last 750 twin build - you end up with 4 studs you don't need. - Don't forget you need the APE nuts too they are longer so you don't bottom out the nut.

SO.. the taller center studs are part no. STUD,10X167 which are out of stock in Partzilla but a search on the part number i found them in CMS at 8 bucks a pop. These days its just a cheap to buy from the states as it is the UK thanks to "brexit" so time to draw up a parts list.
edit. Thanks doctoRot oem will do here, i have the APE on my Z1 and they are a little spicy for this 750 build, well for now anyways.

I went with the HD studs from APE because these engines have problems with head gasket leaks and i figured a higher torque value and less stretch would be good. While you're at it make sure you get a good head gasket. The green ones are the best, followed by brown. avoid the early red and black gaskets at all costs

A little gasket history :
11004-071 => 11004-078 => 11004-1055 => 11004-1267
11004-071, recall campaign in June 1976
11004-078, the red one with black middle section
11004-1055, light brown, comes with the first LTD model
11004-1267, the green and the best for the last LTD model

So this is what I have, I’m easy on replacing all of these as I’ll need nearly a full set after I’ve taken off the side casings and what not.

what brand are those gaskets? the head gasket looks very shiny. I haven't used any of the aftermarket head-gaskets so i cant comment on their quality. The brown and green OEM ones have a glue like coating. The very front left of the cam chain tunnel makes the casting pretty thin. this is where most of the leaks i have seen start.

They are an unknown entity Doc, they were given to me by guy who I got the bike from, at some stage someone had an idea to sort it out before it was pushed in a ditch to die. I’ll start a build thread tonight.
