On average they are 75.70 mm .

I was wondering if the older KZ1000 (74mm) o-rings that go around the sleeves on the bottom of the block would fit a J engine??

The J engine already has them but they are not visible until you remove the liner.
They are in a concealed groove a few mm up the barrel bore.

Zed. Just pulled the sleeves and there are no grooves in the barrel for o-rings on a J engine.

The issue I'm having is I used the Wiseco MLS head gasket, and when I pulled the head the bottom side was soaked with oil, and eventually this will become an external leak. The oil is traveling around the sleeves, and unlike a composition gasket, there's nothing to stop it when it gets to the top on an MLS gasket.

Pulled the sleeves and they are soaked with oil confirming the source.

Now I'm trying to figure out if I should use the early KZ sleeve o-rings, or just a bead of sealant around the bottom of the sleeve at the block?

Mine don't have them and I don't have that issue. The only ones I know have O rings were the 903 blocks.

Sorry my mistake with the O ring..
It's the GPZ1100 That has them up inside the block.
You can't fit an 'O' ring if there's no groove around the base so you would have to seal the liner another way if it's a big issue.
Probably use some liner glue or even get the block machined take the O rings..
If the liners are truly flush with the gasket face and not slightly below you shouldn't have a problem though.
Those MLS gaskets are coated with sealant so shouldn't let anything past once bolted down providing the surfaces are clean and dry.

Every MLS gasket I've seen has a raised line surrounding every fluid passage, preventing fluid to mix or access to external.

These MLS gaskets have the raised portions surrounding oil at the 4 outer studs and cam chain hole, but not around the outer sleeve. I don't think they accounted for oil traveling up around the sleeve when they designed the gasket, or they would have done the same there. I don't think the sealant on the flat portions of the gasket is enough to provide a real seal.

If you look at the inner sleeves, the OD is within millimeters of the cam chain o-ring. Uncle Kawasaki made sure the OEM composition gaskets went right to the edge and covered the outer part of the sleeve. They knew oil was coming up and needed to be stopped.

I'm gonna play it safe, send back MLS, and go OEM.

Looking closer, I thought it was a second compression seal, but there is another raised line outside it. I measured and they are a millimeter or two off, sealing on the sleeve instead of out side it.
