Easiest way to increase volume of exhaust. was created by bSzemanKZ440
Hi all,
Earlier this week I picked up a KZ440-B1, and within those 3 short days with it, I bought another KZ, a KZ650 CSR.
I love cruising on the 650, I'm a new rider and this is my first good running bike, only downside is that I noticed its pretty quiet. Now, I don't want it screaming loud, but loud enough to hear it while in a car would be nice.
So how would I go about making it a little louder? Is it hard to remove the baffles on it, or the packing? I have spare Harley Sportster oem mufflers, should I attempt to put those on, or just buy a different exhaust all together? Mainly looking for the cheapest way I can, but willing to spend money if needed.
Thanks for the help.

If the factory system is in really good shape, you would be better off selling it and installing a new Delkevic system.

You could drill holes into the muffler end caps. Choose a drill bit that matches an available plug size, in case you change your mind or something. The muffler in the pic was already drilled, but I re-drilled the holes & tapped some threads for some 1/4" brass plugs. I don't know how the system sounded without the plugs.

You could also mount a battery powered amplifier and speakers to the rear seat and tape a microphone on the end of each muffler.

Exactly! Punching holes in an otherwise decent stock KZ650 exhaust is a mistake. Ed

Thank you all for the suggestions! I don’t know why I didn’t think about just selling the stock one, it is in pretty perfect condition.

I've never heard a 650 CSR exhaust but I just love the sound of my 750's exhaust. It has an awesome growl but is relatively quiet. Quiet means I can use lots of throttle without attracting attention. It just amazes me how many idiots blast round town with a loud exhaust advertising they are busting the law by speeding.

Just an FYI if you plan on selling it. The KZ650-CSR & KZ750H Ltd have the exact same muffler system, and it can probably be used on a number of other 650/750 models but a guy may need to fab muffler brackets.

Actually I just cleaned the carbs and put it all back together and it somehow sounds a lot more healthier, has a good growl, kinda content with it now haha
Thank you all for your suggestions
