Most I ever ran were Andrews 3X cams. 1075 / 1260cc engines. I used SOT buckets that were modified. I used some old silver solder alloy, That I brazed into the oil grooves. Then had the machinists at work finish them on the lathe. This was 30 plus years ago. And Andrews liked .004-.006 clearance. Before Andrews, I had a set of Ken Harmon cams made from hard face welded stock cams and re-ground. That was 40 yrs. ago. I never had any real money, so I made do with the cheap stuff! Never spit a shim out drag racing, I never turned over 9500 rpm's.

Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,

And i think You hit the nail on the head z1kz. I've used the OEM SUB out of 650/750's for years and have never had a problem. Of Not Crazy lift numbers. I believe the problem lies with over-revving and missed shifts. I didn't want to use those drilled buckets for this gent's engine so i sent them back to him. Interesting note on the 650/750 SUB's i've used them on the KLR650 also, especially on the compression release exhaust bucket.

Okay, a bit bored today so i cleaned-up the head pictured earlier this morning. I was just curious if it was the bore that caused the stuck drilled bucket or the bucket. Well it turns out it has to be either the drilled bucket OR muck from sitting for so long caused this? Perfect fin 900 heads are too hard to find to just chuck.
