OK Im getting ready to reassemble my engine and wanted to check before my big order from Z1 ent. and any missed pieces. What I Have now is
1974 z1 cases
z1000 jugs rebored to 72 mm with wiseco piston/ring kit
Rebuilt head
(?1976) 26mm mikunis
APE adjustable cam sprockets
stock cams
MRE backcut trans with billet 2nd
Cometic bottom end Gasket set.
engine hardware kit.
900 pork chop crank
have a z1 service manual but not exact year ( should I print out all spereate years ?) THIS is where I bet ED is laughing at me for having such a CUSTOM piece:P :
I also own mititoyo and starrett machinists tools and feeler gauges , not just hand tools

What I think I need is.......
Case assembly goop( use alone or use with gasket?)
engine oil seal kit
carb rebuild kits( K&n pods to be used for know)Not sure what jet size to re start out at.
top idler assembly( also views on the solid mounts vs rubber )
both cam chain sprockets, little rubber pads top bottom, and shafts and idler arm plastic deal
Had a DID chain in it so I assume its has been replaced ( do I replace again?)
was going for a complete gasket kit as well ( military view of 2 is 1... 1 is none)
I was thinking of sticking with points for now.(thoughts)
along with wires and 2 sets of plugs
oil filter(2)
oil lines
(plasti gauges ?)
petcock rebuild kit.
Wooofff...I know there is more what ya see that that I'm missing? other than brains and style hahahahaha I have watched the KAW video a hundred times and Have a performance engine mechanic who is willing to assist/ guide although not a KZ specialist. Thank you for the help

Z1E sells a seal kit. You will need new seals on your ignition side of the crank as well as on the tranny cover and clutch cover. I think the kit has 5 seals in it.

You will need the o-ring for your oil pan, the one for the oil strainer and the ones for the oil bypass thingy. You may need the pressure switch too.

Neutral switch?

A set of bolts for the crankshaft and another set for the cases. I normally use Loctite 515 for the cases but last time I used 3 bond and found it to be better to work with.

If you're putting in a kick start don't forget the little tab that bolts onto the back of the case.

Do you have a set of lock rings for the tranny and clutch?

A set of bearings for the crank, tranny and clutch?

New retaining rings for your wrist pins

That's about all I can bring up from memory that you haven't mentioned already..
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

OEM gaskets are superior to aftermarket by a wide margin. Kawasaki doesn't sell a kit but you can piece together what you need one gasket at a time pretty easily using Partzilla as a source.

Stock cams = stock valve springs

Threebond 1184 sealer is the latest flavor for between the crankcases. Good stuff. www.amazon.com/Three-Bond-Sealant-Liquid-Gasket/dp/B007TWXI1K

Ok will try to cover those
I have new retaining rings for wrist pins yes
got it on three bond
oil seals ( will double check my counts before ordering)
Are new trans and crank bearings required? It seems good old is better than new stock IMHO.

Do I need new lock rings?
no neutral switch
kick start only( not installing starter for now)
looking for a solid rebuild not a monster( WILL DO A TURBO engine for this one day on another block)

APE
shift bushing
easy to add now and cheap.
If trans and crank bearings are good , no one usually replaces them

I only find an over shift bushing from Shnitz racing. On the Z1 site did not find one yet! really looking at shift rod as well now though Are the APE bolts necessary on this HP, or is it simply age makes OEM trashed out? I will be hell raisin and highway driving but its the huge weight resistance I have going that makes me feel the need to strengthen the trans as much as possible. Thanks the info is welcomed AND appreciated.

I stand corrected . I didnt look at APE KZ Zone site before answering you.
No over shift bushing listed currently.
If someone else has it , go for it.
You are asking for what you need so I will keep my advise limited to your level of power and ease of adding more later
HD APE cylinder studs are nice . I added them while still normally aspirated, Then HD Nuts later.
a clutch pusher bearing is nice , but can be added at any time.
I have the extra plate clutch in mine but it is from a old vendor ( Action 4 ) so cant speak of current units.
Ask away if more info needed
Or invite me over
Im in Hamburg , MI. Im sure MIKAW would love to come too

We will do whatever is necessary !:cheer: definitely shades will be necessaryB) . I have enough room in my shop for what I call ANTI-social distancing which most my friends abide by and keeps them farther away than any state recommendations, mostly cause my pals are all a smelly bunch.
Im also leaning towards the shnitz unit, I have came across their name and all good so far in my research.
