Hey all,

I'm working on restoring a 1979 KZ650 Custom, and I have a question about piston replacement. Two of the original pistons had cracked piston skirts which caused some cylinder damage. Not too bad, but enough that just honing won't be enough to fix it.

I'm interested in the Wiseco K700 kit, taking the cylinder bore from 62MM to 64MM. Will these work with the stock cylinders on my bike, or is that too big of an increase? Anything else I might need to replace for this mod? The existing piston rods, bearings, and crankshaft all look good.

Thanks!

2mm over is fine for stock cylinder sleeves. You will want to measure the big end of the connecting rod for roundness before reusing them. I didn't and I am rebuilding an engine...again. lol. Running this piston kit on a completely stock engine will be fine. alone it probably wont be a significant increase in power.
