There is always APE. They offer a discount on boring if you buy the kit from them...but too late for that.

Steve,
You should put "Meanwhile I'll just RIDE THE PISS OUT OF IT. :woohoo:" in your signature! It seems to be your moto, and a good one at that!

I took them to High Tech Machining and his boring bar is too big to do it. It only goes down to 2 7/8" and the 70mm piston is 2 3/4". "Missed it by that much." :( Sam and High Tech suggested LA sleeve. Talked to them and they're way up there in price. Called APE and they're much more affordable at $219 to bore and match but a four week turn around time. May just have to do that. I'll call around and see if there's someone closer.

Talked to Ted. (Nice guy) he referred me to Norm's Cycle in San Berdoo. Been a KZ guy for decades. He explained how many passes it takes on each cylinder to go out 2mm. It takes a long time at .2k" a pass. Turn around in a week at $400. OUCH. :pinch:
I remember back in 78 I took my 903 block to a guy in N Palm Springs that goes by the name Nigger Lee. He was a Jewish guy that looked like Howard Stern with a long beard. He was known for making things work in unorthodox ways. Kinda fun to be around but a little bit shady. He had a salvage yard and a large shop. He bored and honed my 903 barrels in four hours while we drank beers. I was so happy to get it home to slap my new big bore together and had it running that night. No matter how long I ran it the rings never seated and it burned oil until the wreck in 86. That's when I sent the Z2 block to Clupper to bore it out to 1015. That's when I noticed the old cylinders weren't symmetrical. They weren't perfectly in line. Each was off just a little bit. The pistons compensated for it but it always burned a little oil.
I guess it's APE for me.
