I replaced all gaskets and o-rings 2 season ago, I changed the routing of the tacho cable in the off season maybe the little exstra upwards tenstion have made it?
I will try to avoid taking of the top cover...
My understaind its 3 parts keeping it oil tight?
Is it random with of them need to be replaced? I can change 2 and 3 first then.... ?

Good point, so maybe I have "used up" the seal?
Its`s not possible to take out the gear without taking of the top cover?
Its the oil seal item 8, who prevent the oil from coming out ?

I could try to replace the oil seal item 8 and see what happens, and if it comes back then open up the top in the off season and take a look on the gear shaft...

Rick H. wrote: OK, I'm confused. Do you have to take the valve cover off to get the tachometer gear holder out? Doesn't it just pull out if you remove the retainer screw and retainer? Unless I am missing something this should be no big deal to get the gear holder and gear out.

Thank you !
I dident know, have had it out one time only when I rebuild the engine so have forgotten...
I will then take out the gear and study it to determine where the oil coming from!
Thank you

Consider the tach drive housing on a Z1. The oil seal presses into a bore that is about twice as deep than the seal is wide. When Mama Kaw installed the seal, it was sometimes pressed all the way to the bottom of the bore, sometimes not.
Over time, the lip of the seal might wear a groove into the tach drive gear's shaft, although usually it just polishes a tiny width that can't be felt with a fingernail. The gear is hardened.
When we replace a tach drive oil seal, we always evaluate the condition of the tach gear shaft. If there's any question as to the condition of the shaft where the seal lip makes contact, we press the new seal into a slightly different depth. Doing so will present a fresh surface of the tach drive gear's shaft to the lip of the seal. Doesn't take much; 1mm change in depth will be plenty to get a fresh shaft surface running in the seal.

Since it's leaking, I would reroute the tach cable so that there's no tension, upwards or otherwise.
