The usual symptom is the plug fouling when the bike has been stood overnight which allows enough time for oil to seep into the cylinder.
Once a fresh or cleaned plug is fitted and the bike started the oil in the cyl is burned off and is usually ok for the rest of the day until left to stand again.
Smoke from the exhaust on acceleration after deceleration (which creates a momentary partial vacuum in the cylinder and draws oil down the guide and then burns it ) would back this up.
