Found this in a forum search... Does anyone know if this is a manufactured item or home made... I'd really like to have something like it...

We've never seen the stand pictured in OP. However, our forum member <hardgun> posted a thread about motor stands he makes himself. We bought one and have been satisfied with it. We're in process of writing a review for the VJMC magazine of this stand, which will be published this year.

The original (necro) thread is here:

PM <hardgun> for info & pricing. He's indicated he can customize within reason.

I must agree with what slmjim+Z1BEBE said. I had Hardgun make an engine stand and lift plate for me a couple of months ago and they were very well done. Which reminds me I have to get to painting them asap.

How well would a stand like that (original post) support the engine? I know those engine stands (the base unit/car stand) holds the v8s fine, but I feel like the style hardgun posted is better from a material/statics standpoint.

They worked fine for me 40 years ago during my Turbo build

Dave did you build yours?

I was planning to do something like this. I already purchased the 2 stands from HF. Cheap, I think on sale and with a coopin I only paid $60 or so. I’m going to contact Hardgun and see if he would be willing to build his stand that I could adapt the the engine stand. I just want something I can stand up and work on

The stand was a shared tool by my Kaw racing team
The engine stand main body was purchased , and the Kaw engine cradle was home made.
Very simple to use . It held all 4 rear corners of top and bottom chassis mounts.
It worked great and as you can see held the whole engine quite easily

I whipped up one from an old car engine stand someone gave me 20 yrs. ago. I just welded some stuff to a flat plate of steel.
It rotates fine. Been in this fetal position for 6 yrs. now. I got depressed after It got overspray from a single stage urethane paint job I was doing 4-5 times for same bike. Yes it was covered in a hefty bag and sheets. But that paint has a way of creeping in on everything. So now it needs to be scuffed, cleaned and resprayed black. I have turned the engine over a lot with marvels oil coating the pistons and rings over the years.

Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
