im currently building a bike as shown in the projects section Z/KZ 1000 mk 3 . i want to do something about the exhaust thats currently fitted to the bike which looks awful. the bike is being built on a bit of a budget so i was thinking of either modifiing the one thats on it or building a new one as there is nothing out there that i fancy other than generic chinese tail pipes. i like the look of the basanni pipe that a few of you have fitted. the headers are ok ,so thats the hardest part done. i realise that exhaust tuning is a dark art but would a home brew exhaust affect performance that much? its not performace im after ,more cosmetic. thanks Dean

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationi would do as you have done and find an exhaust i like .then study it as well as possible and then order some nice components and build what i wanted.
it could be done cheaper by sourcing a bunch of different bends and collectors from other header .but i can tell you from experience that once you get it build after dealing with all the old rust ,carbon build up and general corrosion.that you will be less frustrated and have a better end result if you start with the nicest stuff you can get.www.coneeng.com/motorcycle_components.html
or just give these folks your money and buy one of these.
japan.webike.net/products/22623690.html
webike usually has some more affordable options(around the 400$ish zone)for headers and is good to buy from.communication lacks a lil but they've always come through for me.
i've wanted to purchase one of these
and some pieces from cone eng. and try to build my own Kerker replica.but i got to many projects in line for awhile.
thats my .02 fwiw,

can't wait to see what you do.
keep us posted,

luckily the headers i have are one piece with the 4 into1 colector welded to them so i only!! have to make the silencer! are there any basanni owners out there good enough to give me some rough dimensions of the tail pipe? to help out a cheapskate armed only with a mig weder and grinder. i mde these acople of years ago out of odds and sods of headers and various bends by slicing and weding and plenty of filing and grinding

Just pulling your chain Dean. Delkevic seems to be the go to exhaust for quality/economy. I think they have different styles of end can as well. I dont have one myself but Ive never heard a bad thing said about them.

P.S. Im prepared to be corrected if anyone wants to chip in.

going to have a go myself. been shopping on ebay for stainless steel bits should only cost me about £60 to make it how i want. just got to work out the internals for the silencer as there seems to be plenty of different ways to go about it. the pipe thats on it is far too quiet!! be safe be heard!!!!!!

If youre in gods own country you might get some advise from Exhaustcraft. Cant remember the guys name but I had contact with him a few years ago and he was very helpful. He also sells parts. Might be useful.

made a start on the pipe purchased some 304 stainless tubing in 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 inch and a couple of cones. due to the lack of tools this is the way i have done.it im sure there is an easier way and im sure that some may appaled but my method but its cheap and might just work!! tools involved 4 inch grinder with 1.5mm cutting disc a tape, sharpie pen and mig welder with 316 stainless wire. cut slits in pipe about 3/4 of the way round and bend keep cutting slivers out until desired bend is reached tack . i then ran the disc through the slit to open it up so the weld has somewhere to go 2/1/2 pipe before cut and bend a bit of cutting later a bit of detail of the cuts roughly 20-30 mm apart seems to give a smothish curve. before and after tailpipe hopefully at the weekend i will post pics if anyone is interested after the first lot of bodgery!!
