Damaged threads to spark.... was created by gordone
Today I made a mistake to damage the threads to spark plug on cylinder 2......

The threads has not perfect since I purchased the bike.....

I overhauled the top (valve etc) last year....

What posibility do I have?

I have seen some have inserted new threads with a insert? Find a workshop who can do it?

Only posibility?

That sucks. You need a Timesert insert.

Shape is the same as you have?
They is made off hard steel they say in the discription.

A gay on facebook say I need to find new spark plug to match heat «resistans» to the new loose threads since they are not the same as ALU?

Stay away from this repair kit, those all in one bore and thread kits are junk. Trust me, i know what i´m talking about.
Pull the head and go to an engine repair shop.

I understand....
Then my question who pop in my head, shall I take all 4 at the same time?

I have not had problem with the others, but the bike is from 1981.

When the workshop install timesert insert, will it be good as new? So maybe good to upgrade all four and then use correct nm..,

With the proper tools an insert can be installed with the head still on the engine, even using a Timesert. Ford had a big problem on some of their V8 engines and a LOT of engines got fixed this way. The aluminum chips can be caught with a greased tap, but if a few get into the cylinder, you can suck them out with a vacuum. Plus, a few aluminum chips won't typically hurt anything anyway. They will get burned up or passed out of the exhaust.

Thank you.

I think I shall be able to pull these of my self?

Maybe the set cost the same amount as got it repared...

The time insert itself, what materiell shall it be?
Not steel since the top is ALU?

I will call the shop tomorrow and ask If I can pay to borrow a time insert set for a day...

From reading it looks they are steel with a layer of copper.

When I do it, I think it smart to take all 4?
