Oil Cooler KZ 550

Please help
I have the KZ 550 engine first type. Without oil cooler outlet.
It is possible to connect the oil cooler to a plug and the motor plug.
It is possible to send a connection drawing.

It would be much easier to get an oil pan that has the connections. But if you want to drill and tap for lines, I think it can be done. maybe this website will help:

There should be a pressure outlet on your oil pressure switch located on the back of the engine. There is a return port located on the right side, underneath your ignition cover.

I found the oil plan kz 650. Maybe is the oil pressure different than the kz 550? With the Kz 650 plug at the ignition, the oil pressure goes up to the head. At kz 550, oil returns here?

That plug you have written cooled oil returns here is correct
Thats the main oil gallery that feeds oil from the sump to the crank shaft bearings and then to the head.
While its possible to feed cooled oil into that plug its easier and cheaper to buy a sump from a latter model 550 that came with the oil cooler (all 550 gpz's and Zephyrs )

These are from the Kawasaki GPz/KZ550 Factory Service Manuals. I second the using of a pan from an oil-cooled GPz550.

I put a GPz cooler on my KZ750. Bought an oil pan with the take-offs, a GPz750 cooler with lines, and fabricated some frame mounts. An easy project all and all, completed for about $75 or so.

Apologies...I assumed that was a return port.

My KZ550 runs very cool so I am curious why you want to add an oil cooler?

Getting parts to GPZ or KZ is a big problem. All the motors in my country mostly ended up in the foundry
And if I buy parts from Ebay, the postage price doubles the price of the part. It is better for me to make or remake things.

I drive veteran racing tracks and the engine is overheated. I'm using the upper speed zone and the engine gets a good spin

The oil sump from a Zephyr zr550 will bolt right up to a kz550. It has the ports for the oil cooler and if you can find one, the zr550 oil cooler is much larger than the gpz550 one. The Zephyr was produced from 1990-1998 so it may be easier to find than the 1981-86 gpz's.
I have all the parts (gpz550 sump, lines and cooler) you need, but as you said, it would cost more to ship them than they are worth.

If so, can you identify which pan style you have?
The earliest type does not have a blank boss for cooler hookup.

If you have the 81 or later pan with the square cast boss, then I think you should be able to tap into that surface to get lines similar to the gpz pan. You will need to install a plug inside the larger port nearest that boss to divert the oil into the cooler otherwise it will just bypass your drilled ports. The boss might have enough meat on it to drill and tap pipe threads instead of using the o-ring-flange type hookup. (If I recall, Australia has different pipe threads than the U.S., not that that should be an issue.)
