BTW: Anyone need a KZ650 head with cams, springs, valves for free ???

The video I've seen has the guy feeding cotton rope into the cylinder through the sparkplug hole until it's completely stuffed full, keeping the valves from dropping.

If I have to replace the valve seals with the cylinder head on the engine, (car or bike), i set the piston to the TDC.
Then i have to use this spring compressor tool to remove the valve keepers.

There is a "bang" type spring compressor you could use with the rope on top of the piston at tdc trick. But I'd want to pull the head and eliminate any other causes.
As far as a clamp type compressor, I have the OTC 4572. Can't see anything aside from pneumatic working better on a KZ head. $55 on Amazon.
Don't understand why the guy in the video had the head and block off doing gaskets, then did the seals after installing the head?

For the money, this one works well even if it is a bit slow, I had to clean up the machining on it first, it had some ruff spots but like Nessism I don't do it for a living so no need to go over board.

I noticed the other week I was hearing a little metallic noise at idle. Very sporadic and seemed to go away.
I thought... weird, the bike is running great and feels great. Maybe it’s my imagination.
After some more riding through the week, I dumped the oil, and found a ton of ultra fine tiny metal debris around the magnet drain plug.
Also there was a weird little piece of metal as seen in the below photo that was in my oil that looks like a paper clip of some sort that got shredded through the motor? WTF. I thought it was a piston wristpin circlip that popped out but nope, all mine are in tact.
I just took the motor apart. Looks like 2 valve seals exploded. See pics below.
I have the red Viton seals, its def them.
Why would this happen?
seals are only 3 years old, along with my redone head.
The bike has been running great for about 3 years. I’m extremely frustrated.
I guess I’m going to split the cases and double check everything to confirm what happened. And clean any metal debris. I’m not a happy camper, so any input as to why this could have happened is appreciated so I can prevent it next time.
Thank you.
Ed
This piece of mangled wire looks more to me to be a piece of a OEM "scissors clamp" that somehow made it's way into the shim bucket and became lodged between the bucket and the valve retainer. I really don't see any other way, and also no possibility of a ring off of a valve seal to be bent into the distinct shape of a OEM scissors clamp. . that could have contributed to a over-lift condition while pounding out the valve seal.
Also, the valve looks to sunk in below the valve keepers after all the "rocking" by having a foreign object between the bucket and spring retainer. in turn wearing the spring retainer and sinking the keepers deeper into the retainer.
It seems that no matter how clean and orderly I try to keep my work area, there is always something that can fly in pop or.. ?? into the mix. When I was in college, my instructor always stressed to keep things covered with a rag or something to keep something from flying in from across the shop, only to land in the motor or transmission you were in the process of assembling.
Spring Clamps.. AKA "Scissors clamps".
