Would this shitty cam chain tensioner and the resulting slop in the chain be the cause of the bog issue?
Definitive no and never!!!
It is an air leak, lean air/fuel mix, pin hole/crack in a vacuum line/plug.
No slack in the throttle cable, a loosen carb slider, a lot of possibilities are left.
I need some pics of your carb environment, running out of ideas....

The bolt hole is getting weak, I can tell. Also, I don't trust this style cam tensioner. I will feel better with a new style APE one. I watched your video on your tensioner and that sold me.
thanks Steve,

If you can duplicate the bog in the garage, shoot some carb cleaner in the box while it's bogging. If the engine picks up you're starving for fuel. Same situation when the bog is eliminated with the choke on.
Have we discussed mods? Have you done any exhaust or intake changes? Could just be not jetted correctly for the changes.
Just re-read your first post. Put the airbox back on and see what happens!

hey Scirocco,
here are some pics from today.
I checked and sealed the intake boots on the head side, the carb side are soft and seal well.. Not tested while running yet. they looked ok, but you never know. If the seal job works I will buy new ones right away.
I know it's hard to tell with pics what is really going on but here are some of my carbs. Thank you.
In pic number 550 and 510, there are holes right through the bottom of the slides in all four slides. Is this normal?
Also, some carb cleaner residue is still on the carbs, needs a final wash down.
I have eliminated the petcock vacuum and plugged it up to test but the same. Petcock functions good.
New fuel line and vacuum line. No leaks detected.
What areas on the carb are subject to vacuum leaks. I could assemble and test for vacuum leaks with starting fluid or a recommended fluid.
The bog is so dramatic that a tiny vacuum leak wouldn't cause it, a major vacuum leak would though. Can't seem to detect one. "Spray time troubleshooting" next.
cheers,
Ron.

I will hook things back up and do some testing with the airdbox, Spray check for vacuum leaks and spray the intake air box to see if it is vacuum leak or fuel starve.
I will give it choke while riding to see if it helps..
Tank cap vent is good.
Slides are tight.
New throttle cables, set good.
moving forward...lol
thanks,
Ron.

I have checked the petcock, all is good. Even unkooked the vacuum line, plugged it up and rode it on prime, still bogs.
Have your removed the petcock and cleaned the filter???
A clogged filter reduce the fuel flow.
