Do NOT driil hole on the oil pump.
Crankcase air pressure escapes through the oil breather.
The oil breather can be removed and cleaned.

Hoping the OP's concern doesn't involve the possibility of actually drilling a hole into the oil pump. And it might have nothing to do with the oil breather (which was just speculation on my part).

We think we understand what you are asking.
Kawasaki Service Bulletin #4/900-6, dated 1/4/77 refers to a problem with air lock in the oil pump. Among other things, it does indeed instruct to drill a 0.8mm hole at a specified location in the oil pump body, to relieve the air lock. This is an update to the original Kawasaki Service Bulletin #SER73-Z3 dated 11/13/72, that instructs to drill a 1.5mm hole in the pressure switch disk to relieve an air lock at that point.
We cannot post the Bulletins right now, but we can do so tomorrow morning.
Later production oil pumps and pressure switches have the holes present from the factory.

Service Bulletins #SER73-Z3 and #4/900-6 attached.
Bulletin #4/900-6 on page 3 instructs where and what size to drill the hole.
If you can find a later production KZ900 or KZ1000 oil pump the air bleed hole will already be there.
The documentation is unclear when the air bleed hole on oil pumps was implemented from the factory.
EDIT: OOPS...: blush: slmjim seems to have duplicated the file attachments. Fixed.
Z1BEBE will banish him to The Basement aZylum for a period no shorter than that needed to detail her Z-1B and her '93 CB-750 Nighthawk.

Have downloaded both bulletins.
Only seeing info about drilling hole in the oil pressure switch.
Not seeing anything about drilling hole into the oil pump.
Not seeing a page 3.
