I need some NOISE! 77 KZ750B exhaust

In the link below is VIDEO of me yesterday on my way to the Hamptons. (NYC). You can barely hear my bike:



I have a few bikes and this one is the quietest. Can anyone suggest an aggressive sounding exhaust? Maybe I should take the baffle out? And if so will that require rejetting? Here is what is on there now. No idea what it is.

Personally I believe it would be a HUGE mistake to modify that quiet exhaust system. You would be much better off just replacing it with an aftermarket system that makes the noise you want and keeping the quiet system as is. When you sell the bike that quiet system will add much to the value OR if you want an immediate return on the investment you could sell it separately and pay for the aftermarket system. Ed

Thanks Ed. Youre always super helpful. My plan was/is to completely replace it. Any aftermarket suggestions?

Looks like a MAC 2:1 exhaust, same as I have on my 76 twin. I replaced the MAC megaphone muffler can with a Supertrapp. Supertrapp has a system where you can tune the exhaust with disks. Fewer equals less noise and richer mixture. More disks is vice versa.

Many guys, myself included, find the stock jetting pretty lean. Something to do with emissions or mileage. So if you go with a Supertrapp and plenty of disks you might want bigger pilots and main jets.

I've got pods on mine (another story), pilots up one size and mains up two sizes, needles all the way up. I've got 4 or 5 disks (out of 12) installed to make it rich enough so it's pretty quiet. If you stick with the stock airbox and want noise your solution is probably somewhere between stock jetting and my setup. You might be in for some trial and error.

As far as I know the only maker of aftermarket exhaust systems that fit 750 twins is MAC and they have a 2:1 like yours and a 2:2 variant

Yeah I think Im going to leave it. Its not as quiet as it sounds in the video, the wind was overpowering the exhaust noise, and I dont want to open a can of worms

This is what my 73 Honda sounds like. Big difference:

Is the baffle removable ? Maybe you could see if its packed with fiber glass and remove that if so..... I have always ran my Vance and Hines without and the stock baffle had a backing plate that covers the end.... I removed that years ago and it was a little louder than my comp baffle is that I now have in it now.

The baffle is not removable; at least not without destroying the muffler. The diagrame below is from the Kawasaki Service Manual. Ed

That's the stock exhaust, nearly impossible to find and butt ugly IMO. Pretty sure he's got a MAC aftermarket system. The baffle on them is removable I think. I never took mine out when I was running the MAC with the stock airbox as it was already too lean and also I'm not a big fan of noise but that's just me.

Was thinking that is a after market header or pipe and not the stokers ?...... I agree not to tear into the baffles of a stock pipe.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI got a Saw-Zall HA HA! These mufflers were rotted inside, sounded like marbles. I cut them up before throwing them in the scrap bin.
