I have a 1984 Kawasaki LTD ZN 1100 B. First off just wanted to know if this is a good bike. the bad right now that's wrong with it is the valve cover gaskets are leaking at the ends like a little Caps or something on the ends. Is there an easy fix to this or do I need to get the whole valve cover gasket replaced thank you

You should get a new gasket and end plugs. Check your valves while you're at it.

Is there anything I can do for like a fast easy fix? Like maybe put some kind of silicone or something on the outside of the end caps?

Won't hold. Could use it to seal them after taking them out. I used Yama Bond this time. Pics?

You can try checking the tightness of the cam cover bolts. This rarely solves the problem, but it is cheap. If you try it, DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE BOLTS. The threads in the head are soft aluminum. A few stripped holes will turn a simple, inexpensive repair into a complicated, frustrating, expensive one.

Ultimately, you will have to do what the other posters have suggested. Adjust the valves and replace the gasket and end plugs with new ones. Buy quality parts and follow the instructions in the factory service manual exactly.

Concerning your other question, that big shaft drive LTD was fast and as reliable as any motorcycle on the road in those days. Given regular care and maintenance, they can provide many trouble free miles of motorcycling happiness. However, even the very best of inventions can be screwed up by 30 years of neglect and abuse by careless owners. With an old machine, it is always advisable to assume that no maintenance has been performed, even if the seller says otherwise. Get a copy of the genuine a Kawasaki factory service manual for your specific year and model, then carefully perform all the routine maintenance items in the order given in the manual. This way you can ride confident that the important systems are up to snuff. You may also spot some unexpected problems in the making, and tend to them before the cause you misery. Getting to know the bike in this way is part of the joy of ownership for most of us. It can also save hundreds of dollars over having a shop do the work, assuming there is a good one near you that will work on old bikes.

Replacing the valve cover gasket is easy. probably the hardest part is removing the fuel tank n stuff for access.
The valve clearance check is fairly straight-forward. almost easy. some will say easy.
Be sure to read up on the cam chain tensioner & reset it afterwards. also easy.

A method to remove the valve cover & gasket. This may not be worth the trouble when installing a new gasket. This is a way to preserve the old gasket for re-use. Remove all of the valve cover bolts except the ones on the ends. Loosen those a few mms. Tap/knock the valve cover loose with a mallet & big screwdriver. loosen the end bolts some more, then lift the valve cover & carefully pry off the gasket from whatever surface it seems to be sticking to less by using a putty knife or suitable tool. Then remove the cover & proceed with the valve clearance check.
