I did the gasoline test on the VHT Universal Aluminum and it had no effect. Poured it on, waited about 30 seconds, and wiped it off. I have seen it before where if the engine is hot the paint comes off easier from chemicals.
Also learned not to bother putting parts in the oven to heat cure the paint. That will happen soon enough when you're running it. I think time is the biggest factor. Wait at least a couple of weeks after painting before running, and careful not to go to heavy on the coats. And of course you want the surface spotless. I finish off with brake clean and blow it dry before painting.
