The engine number is KZT00JE009315. and the frame number is JKAK2CJ13BA002355.
Can anyone tell me exactly what I have, and if it will be worth restoring?

For some reason, I am staying in the 1982 model year. They are a bit different the 81-85 years. They were odd for most motorcycle companies a ton of different things were tried, not quite the traditional 60-70s bikes but not yet the modern looking and running bikes since. The most annoying thing to me in that time period are the 85 mph speedos. Luckily, the only other country that used the mph speedo, the U.K., didn't prescribe to that foolishness and you can get a proper speedo from there.

They aren't the easiest things to find but they are out there. They are the same for the 81 & 82 KZ1000J, KZ1100A and the KZ1000R (ELR). In 83 they went to a different set up. You might be able to use a KZ1100B GPz panel but it is the one piece box type unit but it also has a volt meter. Of course, the best way to find the stuff in the UK is to drop the "K" from the designation ie. "Z1000J".

It needs the starter clutch replaced, the guy I bought it from tried to fix it himself, he gave the flywheel a good pounding with a hammer, so the magnets are all broken. I have ordered a new starter clutch kit, if anyone knows where I can get another flywheel can they please let me know, or if anybody has one for sale I would be very grateful.

If you find you need a starter don't get the stock one. Find the starter for an early 80s Honda CB900 They fit if you rotate the casing and they are 0.8 kw (~1 hp) as opposed to the Kawi 0.6 kw (~.80 hp) starter. Even the CB750 starter is 0.7 kw.
