Have annoying oil leak from right side, points housing, and see a seal S25407r in center over crank. Been researching and have found no info regarding its removal and replacement, easy or difficult. Knowledgeable replies please and thanks.

It drives in from the inside. Drive it out from the outside.

As Swest wrote just hook it out with a driver, just make sure you don't scratch the seal face of crank (very hard to do), push the new seal in with a sealant (light smear) around the outer face to prevent it coming out under pressure. When pushing the seal over the sealing face make sure the sealing lip sits nicely.
I don't remember if there is a lip in the housing to prevent it being pushed in too far, make sure it sits flat with the outer cover face

The hole has a lip on the outside edge to prevent it from pushing out.

Does that mean he has to remove the main points cover? I'm a bit fuzzy on the setup and I can't check because I'm in Italy (holiday) at present

Replied by z1kzonly on topic Points Housing Crank Seal 1975 Z1 bottom end.
You should remove ignition housing. It would be tedious, but they make seal pullers with 3 jaws that could hook the seal and pull out.
Pretty simple, You can get a seal at any industrial supply place. 25mm x 40mm x 7mm. I just sold this housing with a new seal on ebay for $25.

Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.

Take a large socket and use it to drive the old one out then use the old seal to drive the new one back in.
